I've been collecting chronograph data for my recent handloads and I'm analyzing the results for consistency. My standard deviation is running around fifteen feet per second across ten-shot strings, and I'm trying to determine if this is acceptable or if I should refine my load further. What velocity spreads do you typically see with your accurate loads?

Hey Teddy, good on ya for running the chrono, getting an SD of 15 fps is decent especially for general handgun loads, that's actually pretty solid. For good defensive or match-grade pistol ammo, I typically shoot for an SD under 10 fps, but anything around 12-15 fps is still totally acceptable and usually translates to great practical accuracy. If you're chasing that single-digit perfection, try tweaking your crimp or maybe adjusting the powder drop consistency..You're close, though, keep at it

From my experience, 15 fps SD is fine for carry loads. I track multiple ten shot strings, focus on consistent seating and primers, and fix chrono setup before reworking loads.
