My first low-light training was a wake-up call, I thought shooting in the dark would be simple..just add a flashlight and go..Wrong! The glare bounced off the sights, shadows shifted, and I completely lost my target at one point. After a few runs, I realized how different it feels when you can’t rely on daylight. Learning to move, control light angles, and identify targets under pressure changed the game, now I make sure to train in low light regularly

I have been there too, and the truth is that low light will humble you fast.

Here are a few things that have helped me:

- Train with a flashlight both mounted and handheld so you learn transitions and muzzle awareness
- Work on light control so you avoid glare off sights and lenses.
- Learn target identification by silhouette and positive identification before you press the trigger.
- Practice slow and accurate first shots, then add speed under pressure.
- Use tritium or bright dot sights for faster acquisition.
- Run drills that force shooting from inefficient positions and while moving so your motor skills adapt.

Finally, you have to get comfortable with failure during training so you learn to recover, instead of panicking...regular short sessions beat rare long ones, any day, anytime

You got a harsh dose of reality, low-light is a game changer. Glare, shadows, and muzzle flash will wreck your focus, so keep training that light discipline, it's the only way to master it
