what should i look for in a kid's fishing setup

never fished before, but I was thinking about taking my 5-year-old out for a day on the water. I saw some basic kids' fishing rods at a local store and started wondering if those would be okay. It feels a bit overwhelming since I don't know much about it, but I'd love for my child to have some fun trying to catch fish. Any advice on what kind of setup might work best for us? Thanks!
