My hands aren't as strong as they were, and honestly, the recoil bothers me more than it used to, so I'm looking at different options to keep shooting comfortably without giving it up entirely, what modifications or caliber switches would you recommend?

You're at a point many experienced shooters reach. The recoil is a physical problem, but it becomes a mental problem when you start anticipating the hit, that's how you develop a flinch. We need to solve both. Forget selling the rifle, you can engineer the recoil out of it. The best solution, hands down, is a quality muzzle brake installed by a gunsmith. It can reduce felt recoil by 40-60%. If you don't want the noise, then a high-end recoil pad (like a Limbsaver or a good Pachmayr) is the next best thing. While you're waiting for the hardware, drop the load! Switch to a reduced-recoil factory load or handload with lighter bullets and charges. You can often cut the punishment in half while still having plenty of power for range work. Get that flinch under control, and you’ll fall back in love with that rifle.
