The best gifts I’ve gotten have been the useful ones, even if they weren't the flashiest. I always end up using things like calipers, manuals and supplies instead of them just gathering dust.
The stuff that earns a spot on the bench is always better than the showy stuff. If I am still using something five years later, that is the real gift, even if it came in plain packaging.
